About the Library

Mission Statement

Saxton B. Little Free Library provides and promotes excellent services, programs, and materials that inform, educate and enrich all citizens.

An Association Library

The Saxton B. Little Free Library is an association library. This means, we are not part of town government, but are an independent 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation with a voluntary governing Board of Directors. About 85 to 90% of operating income is paid by a town grant, as we voluntarily serve at the public library for the Columbia community, charging no membership or other fees for use. Friends of the Library contributions, the Annual Holiday drive, memorial donations, dividend funds, fund raising activities held by the Board of Directors, and gifts and grants provide other funds for both annual operating expenses and long term capital needs.

About…

The Saxton B. Little Library has one foot in the past and one in the future. We are proud to provide materials, technology, and assistance to all ages and all members of the Columbia community without limitation or exception.
