We at the Saxton B. Little Free Library are committed
to the health and safety of our patrons, our staff, and our community.
Phase 3 increases the number of people allowed in a building to 75% of capacity. It keeps all of the requirements of social distancing, cleaning, etc. So only the number of people has altered.
The capacity of our Library is 116 people allowed in the building at one time. This means that through Phase 2, we could have, by the numbers alone, 55 people in the building. For Phase 3 this number has increased to 88.
However, if you know our building, you know we could not accommodate 55 people in the building with social distancing, let alone 88. In fact, no adjacent aisles in our building allow for 6-foot distancing. We have found creative browsing and checkout solutions that allow us to maximize safety and allow for the greatest amount of access to the greatest number of people.
We understand that some of you miss roaming the stacks. We miss having you here. However, this situation is not permanent. Our solution for new book browsing and curbside pick-up, allows what we feel is a functional compromise that allows patron’s access to our materials 6 days a week and allows us to maintain the disinfecting protocols in place. We appreciate your support.
