Sharyn McCrumb was born February 26, 1948 in Wilmington, NC. McCrumb now lives on 80 acres in the Virginia Blue Ridge, less than 100 miles from where her great-grandparents settled in 1790. She is the author of two best selling series and several other stand-alone books. Ms. McCrumb has won several literary awards and in her own words describes her books as Appalachian Quilts. "I take brightly colored scraps of legends, ballads, fragments of rural life, and local tragedy, and I piece them together into a complex whole that tells not only a story, but also a deeper truth about the culture of the mountain South," McCrumb said in an interview in Armchair Detective.
