Julia Spencer-Fleming

Julia Spencer-Fleming was born at Plattsburgh Air Force Base and grew up as an army brat. She graduated from the Univ. of Maine, School of Law. She took up writing as a stay-at-home mom. While working on her first book she took a job at a Portland Maine law firm and had her third child. Hoping to create a character with more zip than the typical lawyer-sleuth she drew on her army past and experiences in an Episcopal Church to flesh out the unique character of Clare Ferguson, first female priest in the small Adirondack town of Millers Kill. In addition, the character of Russ Van Alstyne, police chief, adds a bit of heat to the mix as their relationship develops through the stories.

Julia Spencer-Fleming lives in a 185-year-old farmhouse outside of Portland, Maine, with her husband, three children, and two dogs.
